Happy Birthday ! Love all your insight thanks for sharing. I am happy you’re on here sharing now. Africa Brooke was the woman who opened up my eyes/mind to so much about cancel culture and self censorship back in 2020. Check out her work if you haven’t already.
As far as the news I totally agree - it had become way too much for me awhile back, toxic even. I have found that reading outlets where journalistic integrity is encouraged is a breathe of fresh air. So many journalists who left mainstream outlets where they saw such integrity lacking to join places like Substack is much more informative and so much gentler on the nervous system (mine anyway ☺️). One of my favorites on here is Bari Wies’s, Free Press, she and her contributors are great. I love her podcast Honestly, too.
Thank you for this Jacki. Your words echo so much of the internal struggle for me of late. I’m excited to hear what unfolds for you as you untether.
PS you don’t know me but my besty Cory from Denver mentioned you ages ago and i recently realized you do hypno with a wonderful hypno school peer of mine 💕 sending you love and a knowing nod
I appreciate this post more than you will know. As I am going on the app for a year, after not being active - and you leaving. It feels poetic and I like it. Say hi to the trees for me ❤️❤️❤️
Loving this. Since becoming a mum I have found I only scroll Instagram once a day when my baby is in bed and it tends to be for shorter and shorter time periods. I like it. I scroll and often say out loud, as I leave the app ‘do I really care?’. More often than not, there is a lot i see that I don’t care about and I have no desire to spend time looking for stuff I might. My life has changed so, so much and I want to fully enjoy this time with my little one.
I need to consider how I will get my music out to the world when I finally release my album…but mayen there are other ways…who knows.
I love the question "do I really care?" as it beckons what do I really care about anyways? And yes, so many other ways to share music, we can brainstorm ways!
love this. exploring my relationship (that is constantly evolving) with insta as well and being called majorly to pull info to other platforms. i think substack is in my near future.
So so loved reading this. Gave me a lot more to consider about my relationship with Instagram which I’ve already had a like/loathe relationship with (never love) lol but now considering if I too am relying on it for a false sense of community. And what if my reason for using it for business is actually hindering it?… what else could be possible?
(And thank you for the major shout out!! Tagged in the same sentence as Andrew huberman, wow! 🙏🏼)
Happy Birthday, Jacki!!!!
Great read. Making me consider my own behavior on social. Especially the part about too much news and nervous system activation. Hmmmm….

Yes, the question asks me about my values and what is feeding my soul these days. A brainstorm sounds great when the music is ready!
