If you have talked to me on the phone or via text, in newsletter form or my former instagram caption life, you might have heard me say these words, 'I’m so tired’. Perhaps in the form of complaint or more matter of fact…or both. And I’ve meant it, the last seven years have been tiring. I have had three children in that time frame (two that boycott sleep still on the regular), navigated a global pandemic with all of you, experienced changes on changes in my career, closed one of my businesses, and experienced the devastating loss of three grandparents who meant so much to me. Speaking of sleep though, I did make the wise decision to get a KING bed (never going back) and have changed at least six times over my geographical location, my emotional spectrum and my own personality. My hair length went many different directions as did my style choices.

Woof.

So I went the opposite way today and I was looking for consistencies in my experiences these last seven years. Those anchors that provided a feeling of foundation in times of chaos. I could talk all day about my husband, my supportive Colorado community or the core values work I lead. However, one consistent and daily connection calls my attention today…

We kick it old school here at our home so no screens or anything on our beloved Breville machine, we manually change from double to single shots. We have a milk steamer on the side but we rarely use it, we are an americano family here. Espresso add water, done.

This machine has worked hard for us. Most days, we are talking overtime. And in the tiredness of the past seven years, this has to be one of the most consistent rituals I have ever, ever maintained.
