Poetry while Running to the Beach
I think in poetry now. But of course, I live under my Neptune line.
Today on my run, I heard stanzas and a-ah moments along the path, I wanted to share a handful with you today…

Dear Mother Ocean,
I have walked your sands so many times
Sunny, raining, snowing, cloud-ish grey and some days, blue
Always different, always divine.
On days, I was sad and then when I was sick
When I felt better and came running, I jumped on in
I walked with my beloved before the sun,
One month, every week with a new friend
My Freya girl learned to walk right here along your edges.
I can still see her first steps in a black and white swimsuit.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
For holding my hand when I needed support
And the salt that alchemized my grief on heavy days
because if all rivers lead to the ocean, do tears also?
For showing me change is natural
And that cold can be cozy.
With your tide pools in June
And pizza on the sand with friends every Friday
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you.

Daily
I hammock topless
in the backyard
The sun
caressing my nipples
a heart solar charged.
And now
when I have to wear a bra
to run on the beach
because it is the law
I feel
hot, overdressed, unimpressed
a weighted vest there
where I should be kissed.

I tried to listen to a song today
And like a child tugging at my sleeve
Mother, mother, mom, momma, mom
Listen to me.
Repeat
The ocean waves tugged at my sleeve
Mother, mother, mom, momma, mom
Listen to me.
Repeat.
And as I exhaled a breathy release,
I threw my phone in the ocean.

Goose Rocks Beach
Who will come to me
When all the tourists have left?
I will wait for you.
