If I could have a dream writing circle with two leaders, I would choose the late Mary Oliver (beyond the grave, can you even imagine her poetry now?) and Anne Lamott. I would invite Margaret, Matt, Stacy, Karstee, Holly, Ashley B. and Madison to the circle as they have expressed an interest in poetry, both spoken and unspoken.
And we would go so vulnerable where only poetry and words on pages can take you.
I’ll go there .. in my dreams.
For now.
Here is my third haiku collection to share:
___
Not From Around Here
Drops on my raincoat,
the sky keeps opening up.
Can I do the same?
Family Values
There in the backyard,
I see headstones in a row.
Do they still say hi?
Portraits on Paper
“Mama, look and smile”,
pencil to pad, I am drawn.
I recognize me.
Mycelial Networking
I cannot see you.
But when barefoot, I feel you
communicating.
Sometimes on Instagram. And in life.
Let me ask you this,
“What are you trying to prove?”
Well my worth, of course.
Still Summer
On a random branch,
There are four bright orange leaves
”Already?”, I ask.
Vision Board meets Zillow
We should just move there.
Do you know anyone there?
Not a soul, do you?
My Moon Sign is Cancer
”Why are you crying?”
Because my emotions have
become happy tears.
There is a poet within us all. I do believe.
Share a haiku in the comments and let us start an Optional Optimism reader collection.
“A traditional Japanese haiku is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5/7/5 syllable count. Often focusing on images from nature, haiku emphasizes simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression”. (poets.org)
I love this kind of poetry. I particularly love the humanity and humor, I can picture your laugh on the Instagram one. Your ability to laugh at yourself is something that inspires me.
Love these 🥰🥰🥰
