Every month on the 1st of the month, I take a moment to audit what happened in the last month and set some intentions and goals for the upcoming month. It feels ritualistic, intentional and very necessary these days. Join me, the prompts are below.
Welcome November. Hello there.
An update-ish from October: well that was interesting. So many highs and lows this past month as I led my first retreat into Sequoia National Park - this was my first retreat since before the pandemic and it was really stunning - the landscape but even more, the energetic and emotional connections with the women that showed up. Contemplating where the next retreat should be. I made a lot of soups and stews this past month! I had some big shifts from an energetic healing session on (trapped) irrational fears with a powerful healer who works within emotional codes, Leah Farrell. I never made it to run club, not even once. We had dear friends come visit from Colorado which was wonderful. And then speaking of fears, a mass shooter here in Maine was unimaginable and terrifying. My voter registration is updated and in all honesty, I am just not a big Halloween fan.

Edge-y.
What are two learnings you experienced from October?
My oldest child and I have embarked on reading Harry Potter. I scared easily as a kid (fine, I still do now) and did not know if it was too soon. Well, it was right on time. The story and characters have really helped me navigate conversations in real time with her about good and evil happening in our World too often and how we continue to….continue.
I learned again that asking for help will most likely be the journey’s theme into and through my entire 40s decade. I have been working with a brilliant brand consultant as I lost my voice a bit the past few years and it has been incredible to witness and receive help and implement change with her guidance and perspective.
What are two celebrations you can share from October?
As I mentioned above, we had dear friends come to visit from Colorado. Their kids are the same age and close with our kids and some how, some way we all like each other - like every person has a person. The visit was really heart-filling and when they left, we really felt so energized versus exhausted and that is something to celebrate. As I reflect and look at how simple we kept it with daily beach walks, morning waffles and letting the kids be wild, I am going to celebrate and remember that lesson, too.
I completed the Kitchen Witch soup making program - a cooking class on zoom with
and it was really expansive! My mom and one of my sisters joined me and we are going to continue our soup making together on Sundays. I’ll say my minestrone was the best and my meat broth is good solo in a mug!

I want November to feel like the excitement you had as a kid building for holidays - I am talking countdowns and decorations and thematic movies and so many events - and I want that same frequency for my business, my work outs and my outfit selections.

I journal every single day in November.
I work out 14 times by the last day of November.
I have a list of 3 options for a 2024 retreat location. Suggestions welcome and will most likely stay USA-based (for now).
