I remember August being so sticky. Growing up in Houston, Texas, it was by far the hottest month of the year and you could almost hold the air in your hands. Oddly, I loved running in it. The sweat made sense to me.
Alas, I don’t live in that climate anymore and August now feels like a sweet serenade to Fall and back to school and newly sharpened pencils. I can hear the crisp wind whisper in the (very) early mornings, ‘soon, I’ll be back soon’.
I am in zero rush to send off Summer and yet, I am due for a new journal and I am dreaming of office decor and my kids feel ready for school. At their young age, I always missed school, too.
And so, I let the season romance me a bit with a sultry afternoon heat to remember and a call to routine I am so yearning for. Hello August.
Every month I check in - in my body, on my to-do lists, my habits, and my goals. I audit the last month in moments and learnings and celebrations and then I make requests of myself for the month ahead. Writing it down matters. I invite you to try out the practice, creating consistencies in our day and our months has been a necessity for me right now.
Here is my Audit & Ask for the past month of July to August:
AUDIT
Take a moment to close your eyes and see all that was July. Meetings, moments, people, health, work, commitments, failures, feelings, celebrations and all the learnings.
